May "Fund of the month": Torah Fund

"Fund of the Month" is a new feature of our Website. We will be highlighting various restricted and other funds that we manage. Restricted funds are established by either the temple or congregants for a specific purpose.  Those funds can only be used for their intended purpose, with prior approval of the Board of Trustees.

At the April 2015 Congregational Meeting the congregation approved the new definition of the Torah Fund to be:

The Torah Fund will be used for the refurbishment and repair of the temple’s Torah’s with the concurrence of the clergy plus any refurbishments to the sanctuary.

Therefore, we invite you to donate to this fund, so that we can refurbish one of our Holocaust Torahs.  This is the Torah used by our students on the Bimah during their Bar/Bat Mitzvah ceremony, and it needs to have its spindles ("Etz Chaim") replaced as they are quite worn.

Please donate to the Torah Fund this month!  Donations are printed in the Temple Message and can be made through the temple office at:
    2377 Merrick Avenue
    Merrick, NY 11566-4320
    Phone: (516) 378-3477

Your generosity is greatly appreciated!
