Highlights include:

November 19, 2011 — Night at the Races in the Social Hall — Doors open 7:30PM. Post time 8PM. The event is centered around a number of simulated horse races where you can place bets. There will also be an auction of the horses, which you can buy individually or as a group. You will have the opportunity to name and decorate your horse so bring along some identifying garb for your horse. This event is open to members and their friends. Tickets: $36 (dinner & goodies included), cash bar. Be prepared to CHEER!!! If you know anyone who can call an auction or who can help with a claiming race, call Jayne at 378-8477 or Bill at 379-0763.

Sunday. November 20, 2011 — Merrick Brotherhood Council Thanksgiving Festival of Music at Calhoun High School at 2PM. Please support Temple Beth Am’s Choir as they perform at this concert.

Tuesday, November 2, 2011 — UJA-Federation of New York’s Partners in Caring presents Hang Up and Drive! 7PM at Temple Beth Am. Nationally recognized guest speaker, Jacy Good, will educate students and parents about the dangers of distracted driving. Jacy Good was 22 years old, a new college graduate when she and her parents were hit on their way home from graduation by an 18 year old talking on his cell phone while driving. Her parents were killed and Jacy was given a 10% chance of survival. Today, Jacy is dedicated to stopping the global epidemic of distracted driving. Wednesday. November 30, 2011 — Save the Date for the Sisterhood Dinner at 7PM in the Social Hall. Invitations have been mailed. RSVP as soon as possible. Don’t forget to send in your checks for the raffle.

We note with sorrow the passing of Esta Gelfand, beloved wife of Jack Gelfand and founding member of Temple Beth Am.
