The purpose of Temple Beth Am’s sisterhood is to encourage the ideals of reform Judaism, to bring togetherness among its members, to assist in financial aid and be a mentor for religious, social and educational activities. Our sisterhood provides the women of our congregation a collective voice and identity, friendship, spirituality and bonding, opportunities for enrichment and an outlet for creativity and talent.

Our activities vary throughout the year. We sometimes have a book discussion group, and a stitch and gab group, just to name a few.

Other activities have included:
  • Annual women’s seder – programs for both women and families
  • Theatre circle group – 4 broadway shows a year
  • Torah talk – (4-5 times a year) women get together and discuss a reading of a bible passage
  • Tot program – (3-5 year olds) children learn about the Jewish holidays, mitzvah and bible stories. We hope this encourages further Hebrew education.
Additionally, the sisterhood supports the temple and the Hebrew school with holiday celebrations for all grades in school (munchkins in the Sukkah, latkes and applesauce for Chanukah, a platter for Tu’B’Shevat, hamentaschen for Purim and Passover seders). Our energy is ongoing by sponsoring Friday and Saturday Onegs, flowers on the Bimah, gifts for our bar/bat mitzvah and confirmation students.   We also support the temple by running the Judaica Shop and "care packages" for our congregants' college students.

Date of our meetings: Second Wednesday of every month.
Dues: $36 annually; new member 1st year free

Come join the Sisterhood and feel rewarded.  Meet friends for life!
