COVID-19 Policy
March 4

Here at Temple Beth Am we have been adhering to the strictest guidelines set by the CDC for Covid-19 protocols. We are very proud of our members for maintaining a safe environment for their fellow congregants.

With that said, as the Nassau county positivity rate numbers have been fairly steady these last few months, and our residents have been vaccinated to 95% of all adults, we feel that we can use the CDC as only a guideline for now.

Therefore, we will recommend, not require, that vaccinated people wear masks when in the sanctuary. We still require all unvaccinated people to wear masks at all times. We also still recommend socially distant seating for all, but require it for anyone unvaccinated, including children. We will maintain the Cantor’s side of the Sanctuary as the unvaccinated side and require anyone, including children to be socially distant seated on that side. This does not affect the rules of the Hebrew school which remain in effect until March 15th.

For the added safety of our clergy, when sitting on the Bimah, during a Bar/Bat Mitzvah service, for example, social distancing cannot be maintained, so masks, when not at the Plexiglas enclosed podium, will be required.

We hope that you will adhere to the new recommendations and voluntarily keep our members as safe as possible.

As always during this pandemic time, these guidelines are subject to change at any time.

Thank you,
Lori and Jeff
